Beautification Award Goes to Kathleen Gerenger for Work with Genesee Valley Nurseries

The Town of Alfred, New York, has honored Kathleen Gerenger, a well-regarded accountant, with a beautification award for her work with their town. As the owner and operator of Genesee Valley Nurseries, based in Belmont, New York, Kathleen Gerenger is an expert on improving public spaces through great landscaping. In fact, the New York State Department of Transportation and several local municipalities have enlisted the help of Kathleen Gerenger for many of its projects.

For many years, Kathleen Gerenger completed a number of varied landscape and roadwork contracts for the New York State Department of Transportation and towns like Alfred. As the person in charge of Genesee Valley Nurseries, Inc., Kathleen Gerenger took on a number of significant responsibilities, the Alfred project among them. And Kathleen Gerenger’s work with Genesee Valley Nurseries extended beyond these projects. In fact, at that time, Kathleen Gerenger was also running the plant nursery itself, and managing a tree farm that spanned 100 acres. It took all of Kathleen Gerenger’s technical know-how and experience with civic engagement and project management to deliver contracts like these.

Kathleen Gerenger’s strong dedication to these projects, as well as her excellent follow-through for the communities she worked with earned her an excellent reputation among the municipalities of New York State. The beautification award may have come from Alfred specifically, but it embodied a sense of gratitude to the work of Kathleen Gerenger that was felt beyond that one small town. During her time in New York, Kathleen Gerenger worked tirelessly to improve the communities of the place she called home. Beautification of communities may seem slight, but projects like those Kathleen Gerenger oversaw actually can have a significant impact on those communities’ economies and wellbeing of its citizens. In fact, Kathleen Gerenger continues to see her work as a way to practice civic engagement.
