Kathleen Gerenger and O’Brien Environmental Energy Honored with Best Urban Development Award

Designing new buildings and facilities in urban environments presents a unique challenge for designers, contractors, architects, and the accountants they work with. Cogeneration facilities in particular present unusual challenges, and yet they are needed to power cities with electricity. Kathleen Gerenger is one accountant who has had the chance to work on such a project. Kathleen Gerenger has received many honors and awards for her work as an accountant, but she received one very exciting recognition in particular for her work with O’Brien Environmental Energy.

O’Brien Environmental Energy is one of the many groups Kathleen Gerenger has worked with during her long and illustrious career. While Kathleen Gerenger was at O’Brien Environmental Energy, she had the exciting opportunity to be part of the team that worked on a Cogeneration Facility. The project that Kathleen Gerenger and her team worked on was located in Newark, New Jersey. Because a cogeneration facility must be used to power the electricity of an entire city ‒ in this case, Newark ‒ Kathleen Gerenger and her colleagues created a plan for this project with careful thought given to the city’s unique needs. Together, Kathleen Gerenger and her teammates decided that they would take on a very cutting-edge approach. Kathleen Gerenger and her teammates’ work were recognized for its state-of-the-art development and design with a “Best Urban Development” Award.

City officials were particularly happy with the new addition to their city’s infrastructure, and had Kathleen Gerenger and the folks at O’Brien Environmental Energy to thank for it. Many considered Kathleen Gerenger’s addition to the city to be a revitalizing and exciting new development, and a significant improvement for Newark’s overall efficiency. Because of the design’s incredible success, Kathleen Gerenger and O’Brien Environmental Energy were honored with a Best Urban Development Award for their work on the Cogeneration Facility.
